Wow, Hanukkah Can Be Healthy?

Welcome to the day after Christmas, a day where you especially need to rest, and since today is Monday, and Christmas Day fell on a Sunday, the United States government declares it a legal holiday, just like with New Year’s Day next week, and when the Fourth Of July falls on a Sunday.

Because of those fantastic laws, Lauren Conrad and her team of editors today are taking the day off, leaving LaurenConrad.com in the hands of resident nutritionist, Shira Lenchewski, MS, RD with a recipe box about making vegan paleo Hanukkah cookies.

In the Star of David, dreidel, the Menorah, Shira shapes these healthy cookies with blue and yellow frosting lightly drizzled on them.

Shira swears everything down to the even the frosting is conceived healthy, Shira uses almond flour, tahini, maple syrup, vanilla extract, baking soda, and sea salt to make the cookie itself.

And with the frosting, Shira swears by coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and capsules of blue-green algae and yellow turmeric so one can enjoy their Jewish cookie, with the frosting too.

Shira also proved 2 years ago that Hanukkah can be healthy with another recipe box making light potato latkes without it being fried, or served with sour cream, but baked instead and made with oat flour, grapeseed oil, sea salt, and served with 2% plain greek yogurt.

Now, if you’ve had Hanukkah or Passover feast, you’ve probably heard the joke about the food being so rich and so much, that you wandered the desert for 40 years just to walk off the meal (at least that’s what an episode of “The Nanny” back in April 1997 joked about).

So if you’re on a mission to keep your Hanukkah nights healthy as best as you can, the vegan paleo Hanukkah cookies are a good place to start.
