A Life Well Lived

Max Azria, the one who’s responsible for changing the fashion industry in 1989 when launching BCBG Max Azria, died at age 70 on Monday, reports the Beverly Hills Carrier, Max was suffering from a battle with lung cancer as Max passed on down in a Houston, Texas hospital, leaving behind a legacy of designing for such well known names like Drew Barrymore, Angelina Jolie, Sharon Stone, and Halle Berry, creating such exquisite gowns that made stunning moments on the red carpets of award ceremonies, famously being The Academy Awards, The Golden Globes, and The SAG Awards.

Max has also designed for more recent icons like Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, and Fergie, each having more than their own fair share of red carpet moments that continue to make history not only in Hollywood, but in the fashion world; the Tunisian-Born designer created BCBG under the acronym “bon chic, bon genre”, where in English it stands for good style, good attitude, launching Max Azria to new heights, while gaining the wide respect of many was alone a feat that was an understatement.

Max also achieved an amazing feat in 1998 as he bought Herve Leger, being the first designer to take over a French conturier, the label was relaunched in 2007 where Max incorporated his own designs, and the move quickly paid off as it gained such favor.

Max was also inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1998 because he believed in making fashion more affordable, Max left BCBG in 2016 as he saw the brand at the time decline.

Max Azria is survived by his wife, Lubov Azria, creative director at BCBGMaxAzria Group, and six children, Michael, Chloe, Marine, Agnes, Anais and Joyce.
