Pivoting To Live

Curve New York held its weekly webinar today to deal with the continuing pandemic that is COVID19, as well as the unrest created by the murder of George Floyd, this week addresses “Sourcing and Manufacturing Shifts: a Conversation with Brand Leaders Cosabella & Dora Larsen”.

The virtual pivot is already in place, it’s all about finding items your customer base is gravitating towards during crisis like COVID19, which saw a serge in comfort-wear, being less wasteful with materials that aren’t selling, and taking time to produce quality instead of producing a line fast under a tight deadline, which sets up long term wear and tear, becoming a waste of stitches in the detailing process, and the line eventually becoming discarded.

Partnerships are an important component to establish, COVID19 forced us to reach out to not only our creditors and debtors, but our manufactures who have to salvage product from being lost, which leads to lost revenue and severe financial outcomes.

Solidarity with the black population and George Floyd made us carefully look at equality, not trying to leave any races out, so it’s important to form partnerships to collaborate on a socially conscious collection that reaches out to blacks who may feel disenfranchised, and later look back at those partnerships for other projects.

Sourcing in COVID19 is examined now more than ever because we don’t wanna be locked out of our own factories if a pandemic prevents us from having access in other countries, the push is on for manufacturing to return to the United States, and not rely on China or other countries to outsource our production.

Curve New York also shared that they’re September trade show at the Javits Center will indeed take place physically on September 21, 22, and 23, with social distancing guidelines in place by wider aisles, and a virtual show if it’s not feasible for people to travel.
