Menswear has always been standing in the shadow of womenswear when it comes to the fashion industry, it’s always the “Y” chromosome that has to make room for “X” without question, because women’s fashion are what drives us to New York Fashion Week here in New York City in the first place, but now many design houses are seeing the benefit of adding menswear to their collections, stepping into the pool of straight male or gender neutral, just like Daniel Plus Lauren has seen at PROJECT New York at Iron 23 in midtown Manhattan back in late January, where French roots were planted by Maxime Simoens Paris, and its long-standing menswear, plus its recently added womenswear.
Inspired by a world-renowned French Painter, Maxime Simoens, for Fall and Winter 2023-24 designed menswear jackets out of paintings modeling places in France, along with producing button-down shirts and pants also seeking inspiration from world Genesis’s and children of the Keima, as well as playing with rich solid, bold, and neutral colors for men’s matching sets made up of flannels, wool, and big button, mainly manufactured in Europe, and France for certain pieces.
Maxime Simoens Paris collection added womenswear to its portfolio back in 2017, Daniel Plus Lauren got caught up in this beautiful turtleneck sweater dress albeit it technically a woman’s dress, but it’s also made for men to wear also, this gorgeous unisex dress changes colors as you wear it, while coming in another beautiful color such a burgundy, setting the tone for illuminating possibilities once experienced.
Maxime Simoens Paris caters its price points to those who make a prudent investment in high-end fashion, a beautiful collection maturely designed to those power brokers, affluents, upscale, and even younger buyers who are in a position to buy themselves upstanding fashion, seeking inspiration from yarns overseas that do not accept fast fashion on its doorstep, obtaining the title of being sustainable, for a much higher purpose, without displaying sustainable as its selling point.
