New York – (December 12, 2023)
In the world of color, December means one thing… a new “Color of the Year” being introduced by color authority, Pantone. This year’s color is Pantone #13-1023 Peach Fuzz. As Pantone describes it, Peach Fuzz is “a velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and heart.”
They go on to say #10-1023 is “a warm and cozy shade highlighting our desire for togetherness with others and the feelings this creates, Peach Fuzz presents a fresh approach to a new softness. Subtly sensual, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a heartfelt peach hue bringing a feeling of tenderness and communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration.”
Designer Gita Omri seems to have been feeling the same when she created her Spring 2024 collection, as the color was seen throughout much of the collection she sent down the runway at her visually striking NYFW showing in September.
Gita paired the color with other complementary shades like Terra Cotta, Hot Pink, Charcoal Gray, Black, and Dark Blush. In fact, her collection defining first look (pictured above) was an asymmetrical dress that highlighted the shade beautifully.
Gita Omri is a collection of women’s designer sportswear that counts inclusivity at its core, with every piece she designs being available in sizes 0 to 30. In Gita’s words, her collection is “Not plus, not minus, just womenswear.” Her belief that size doesn’t define fashion, nor does it limit beauty, marries beautifully with the psychology behind Pantone’s declaration of their color of the year being what it is.
