Pride Month may be in the history books for 2024, but it’s never uncool to celebrate the joy and history that this month for the LGBTQIA+ of New York City brings each year.
DANIEL PLUS LAUREN contributor, Victoria Weber, shares her wealth of knowledge about Pride Month NYC, inspiring us to spread the love all year round.

For years, NYC has been considered a respite for the globe’s LGBTQIA+ population.
And the city doesn’t disappoint.
Every summer, the city hosts one of the nation’s biggest Pride festivals, culminating in a massive street parade.
This year’s theme was: REFLECT. EMPOWER. UNITE.
The idea was for individuals, community leaders, advocates, and allies to come together for “Queer liberation & joy,” as quoted by CBS News.
Thousands of people gathered along New York’s 5th Ave. This year’s march started at 25th St. & 5th Ave near Madison Square Park in Manhattan. It then marches west on 8th St. and continued onto Christopher St., where it passed the Stonewall National Monument. It then headed north on 7th Ave, passing by the New York City AIDS Memorial, before it concluded at 16th St.
Floats cruised the street as Diane Ross’ “I’m Coming Out” played loudly. Pride flags and signs supporting Puerto Rico, Ukraine, & Gaza waived.
But the festivities didn’t just hinge on one street parade.
The entire month of June functions as Pride month, with celebrations happening internationally.
This photo was taken at a Pride celebration in Dharamsala, India.
The worldwide festivities served both as raucous parties and political protests.
NYC’s parade was temporarily blocked by “pro-Palestinean” activists. Some of whom were escorted away by police.
