I’M ARMOR & YOU KNOW IT
Just less than a day after Vegas performer, Maren Wade, filed in California an trademark infringement lawsuit against Taylor Swift for “The Life Of A Showgirl”, Taylor Swift responds today with an “Elizabeth Taylor” music video. Though it’s not Taylor who actually does an MV, instead Taylor honors Elizabeth with clips from her iconic feature films. Apparently, it’s Elizabeth Taylor’s boldest scenes along with news footage of the press getting her. And for sure, Taylor at the end gives 5 slates of credits to where all footage comes from. Plus “The Life Of A Showgirl” trademark at the end.
Taylor Swift and Elizabeth Taylor share the same troubles they face from Hollywood, Hollywood can’t meet the unprecedented demands these stars carry. And for sure, it’s justified that Taylor Swift fights day in and day out for her mark on fame as even upcoming acts try to undermine it.
As for this Maren Wade, Maren claims she’s been building her “Confessions Of A Showgirl” brand for 12 years. Maren also claims that Taylor’s people tried to get it trademarked, but were denied when it wasn’t available.
Apparently, TMZ broke the story on Monday afternoon. Then, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Billboard picked up the story thereafter. However, general news media hasn’t picked up the story, nor is it even trending on X.
From what we see here, this so-called lawsuit feels like the same ole cries of damages like we see from run of the mill lawsuits. And according to some, Maren Wade had no problem riding on “TLOASG” shortly after the album was announced last August in her “Confessions Of A Showgirl” branding that apparently is still a work in progress.
