Taylor Swift lawyers calls Vegas showgirl’s copyright claims absurd

WHAT’S YOUR CAUSE

The legal team of Taylor Swift on Thursday are fighting back against Maren Flagg’s infringement claims that “The Life Of A Showgirl” interfere in her showgirl act. Maren claims there’s similarities with Taylor’s showgirl makeup to Maren’s act that was said to been created in 2015. Maren is asking any form of “The Life Of A Showgirl” brand that Taylor Swift is using be barred from any further use. But Taylor’s lawyers filed a brief saying Maren’s claims are absurd, and must be looked into on why Maren’s even filing in the first place.

Comparing Maren’s showgirl to Taylor’s showgirl is far from any large overlap when Maren only has influence in smaller realms. Maren had no problem using Taylor’s brand once Taylor went public with showgirl back in August where Maren didn’t use it before Taylor’s announcement. The bigger question is why is Maren suing for damages now 8 months after “The Life Of A Showgirl” has widely circulated. Taylor Swift’s lawyers also concluded that Maren does not have any showgirl performances of her own coming up. Plus Taylor’s lawyers may go after Maren Flagg legally about her own use of Taylor’s music and imagery.
