Are Models Being Replaced By 3D????
There’s lots of big change going on right now in the world of fashion, it’s being challenged by economics, spending power, true desire, and social media experiences, now the fashion world faces a new challenge coming not only from the world of e-commerce but from the world of artificial intelligence, that debate arose tonight here in lower Manhattan at Cyberpunk’s Internet Of Fashion panel where new technological possibilities look to change the world of fashion forever.
Leanne Luce kicked off the evening describing her experience in technology and fashion, explaining how creating intelligent design such as pick pockets on jackets and other clothing pieces through computer design can enhance fashion design drastically because it’s able to tap into new dimensional aspects of design discovering new kinds of shapes of designing a specific feature on something like a dress or jeans.
Next up was Joshua Mudgett and Lara Tang who went more in-depth on 3D design, allowing the possibility of designing a 3D model to alter and cater to one particular person’s size without human models distorting a man or woman’s real size to fit into a dress, the issue here is how the fashion industry has gravitated to designing and modeling clothes on men and women with real sizes as opposed to what the fashion industry thinks would look good on the consumer at large.
All in all, the resolution here is not to replace the beauty and hard work a model puts in to display how glamorous it would be to wear what a model wears, or take away the passion and desire a fashion designer puts their heart and soul into creating clothing, its only to assist those who don’t have the fashion/ model expertise and resources at their fingertips to be at the same level the fashion industry has prided itself forever at being at.
