Fragrance Journey
Just as New York City kicked off a new month with the first day of February this past last week, DANIEL PLUS LAUREN ventured into lower Manhattan on a Thursday evening over to 242 Mulberry Street, where Osswald NYC, a high-end destination for perfumes, colognes, and skin care, celebrated the launch of ARTEM: EAU DE PARFUM, a new fragrance natural to its art of perfuming combined with telling the story of history, art, and culture, created by Karimah Bowen-Elliot.

With an array of fragrances by ARTEM telling their own story mixed with floral and spice arrangements for each meaning behind it, DANIEL PLUS LAUREN took note of Flos Novis, meaning new blossom with daffodil being the main ingredient, daffodils are known to blossom in less than ideal environments, daffodils bloom in the winter when most flowers don’t bloom, daffodils are known for their resilience, creativity, and uniqueness, giving off an incredible natural perfume scent that’s clean and the first scent you notice in the room.

ARTEM continues on with fragrances leaving powerful meanings, such as Hues Of Her which rises above the labels put on women in society, women are more than just lawyers or doctors, there’s so many wonderful qualities and expressions a woman has, it’s made up of tuberose as its main ingredient, it also has amber and vanilla in the mix; Notes In A Minor seeks out inspiration from Ella Fitzgerald and George Girchwin, its mom and dad getting ready for summer with 170 rose pedals that are rose demai which is a very rare ingredient to make up one drop of oil, only blooming 3 weeks out of the year, it’s powerful and complex; and Southern Ballad celebrating the childhood of this perfume’s creator hometown of Atlanta, celebrating the south with sweet tea and gardenia.

On each side of ARTEM boxes of perfume, you will find lineages of art work based out of Charleston, South Carolina, where 3 out of 4 black people can trace their slave roots dating back to their ancestors, representing how far the black population has come from those dark roots in American history.

Telling the story of the south, women, the black culture, and moments of the dark season, ARTEM: EAU DE PARFUM by Karimah Bowen-Elliot spreads a powerful message of history, heritage, sweet memories, and empowerment not only with one race or culture, but all diverse populations who have their own story to tell, each wonderful scent provides soothing comfort not only for one’s past, but for the exhilarating fragrances that all ranges of perfume have to offer.
