This week in NYC the Billboard Hip Hop Artist of the Year award goes to the one and only…King Vamp…Playboi Carti.
- Carti hit #1 on the billboard for Carnival from Vultures album by Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign.
- Carti also had the song Type Shit from Future and Metro Boomin’s album “We Don’t Trust You” peak at #2 on the billboard charts.
At a Ken Carson’s concert (Ken is signed to Opium, playboi carti’s label if you didn’t already know) when they were getting the crowd amped up and ready for Ken they played Type Shit, and as soon as the beat dropped and the song started playing, the whole crowd took notice and went “Ooooh”.
Carti has this theme where whatever song he is on in the album is the biggest hit song and the biggest concert/Mosh Pit song;
This has happened with his latest songs Carnival, Type Shit, and Fein from Travis Scott’s album Utopia.
Even NBA teams are hype for his next album with both the Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks posting Carti with the caption “Drop The Album.”
Even the brand Timberland is hype posting Album Ready.
