Victor dE Souza showed his spring/summer 2025 collection called “The Rabbit Hole of Style” on September 6, 2024 at 5:30 PM. Since Victor is originally from Argentina, it was most appropriate that he had the show in the beautiful and elegant Consulate General of Argentina building at 12 West 56th Street in Manhattan. The building has so much old-world charm that the doorways with the artwork on the walls were the perfect stage for his Couture collection.
I’ve been attending his runway shows for ten years now and he never ceases to amaze me! He is an American Couture designer meaning he makes one of kind pieces that you can order from in your size. He calls this demi-couture. On his website you can order his luxury ready-to-wear, headwear, accessories and beauty products along with his demi couture.WWW.VICTORDESOUZANY.COM All in all I loved everything in his collection because it was so wearable in everyday life.
Victor’s meaning of “The Rabbit Hole of Style” is about a voyage through sartorial transformation towards a real of refined elegance. I’ve worked in the fashion industry for many years, so I definitely agree that his clothes are all about femineity, ladylike elegance and sartorial (tailored clothing). I was able to get up close to the clothes after the show and look at each piece toughly and I definitely agree he is a master of tailoring for women! The craftmanship of his collection is suburb in every way.
Tapestry fabric is usually associated with home furnishings but this season it’s a major fashion trend. Victor used it in tones of beige and brown in a floral print. Being the genius designer that he is, he carried the fabric into pointed toe boots and wedge shoes that matched the clothing. This is a perfect fabric for his spring 2025 double breasted short sleeve jacket and walking short, mini skirt and long sleeve cropped jacket. I loved the hi-low dress over skinny pants because you can take each piece and wear it together or wear them alone. A very creative idea was to use this fabric in a gown that can be worn for less formal occasions or in home parties.
Some other beautiful fabrics used were heavy dark denim, boucle, quilted satin and all of his fabrics had lots of body to them along with being extremely high quality. I loved his use of details such as bows on shorts sleeves, stand up ruffled collars on blouses, cut outs in jackets. His peplums on the bottom of jackets were faced in velvet on the inside and made to stay down and flare out. Lots of lacing on the front of skirts and the backs of jackets make his collection unique and very beautiful. Colors were classic in cream, navy, brown, beige and black. All of his clothes are classic, timeless and pretty much seasonless too. When you wear his clothes, you will be noticed coming and going because of all the front and back details. These aren’t pieces that make you blend in with the crowd but instead stand out from everyone else.
After the show Victor was awarded a citation for practicing sustainability by creating timeless pieces with quality and care that you can wear forever. In other words, he doesn’t create disposable fast fashion that clogs up the landfills. This award was in the form of a plaque as seen in his hands. It was awarded to him by the State of New York and given to him by NY State Assembly Woman, Rebeca Seawright, of NY State 76th District (lady in pink).
