Travis Hamilton is the designer and owner of the Negris Lebrum collection. He showed his Spring and Summer 2025 line of men’s and women’s clothing on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the Mriya Gallery, 101 Reade Street in Manhattan. Since this place was an art gallery the lighting was great and I had lots of space to get up close to the models after the show so I could write this blog about it.
Negris designs for the career woman or anybody who wants a sheik image all while wearing tailored clothes in high quality fabrics. I’ve seen his shows for quite a few years now and there is nothing tricky or unwearable in his collection. This season the theme for his runway show was “Colors Unite Us”. This was a tribute to Vice President Kamala Harris highlighting the cultural importance of her and a symbol of respect, dignity and recognition of her achievements.
The golden plaid outfits were reminiscent to the fashions of the 1970s with the styles of long jackets over flared pants, short sleeve cropped jackets over stovepipe pants, tunics over pants and a Preppy Retro Sweater that represented the Divine Nine sororities and fraternity communities. Notice the big capital H on the sweater with the word Kamala in the middle that was a nod to Vice President Kamala Harris getting elected as President of the USA.
Vibrant colors such as electric blue crinkled satin outfits were also a nod to the 1970s with spread collars and pullover shirts with lace up fronts and culottes with short sleeve jackets that can be worn to the office or out for dinner or drinks after work.
Some other simple styles he designed were long column and peasant dresses; long shorts with shirt jackets for men and mid-thigh shorts with V-neck pullover sweater vest and a long spread collar shirt jacket for women. All a very easy to wear collection for school, work and going to an event at night.
