Evan Hirsch: A “Wicked” Good Red Carpet Moment

November 9th, 2024 (Los Angeles)

One & a half years ago, Designer Evan Hirsch, after hearing that the iconic Broadway musical was being adapted for the silver screen, posted a TikTok to his more than half a million followers stating, “It’d be a real shame if none of my designs made it to the “Wicked” Premier.” It seemed that many doubted his chutzpah as the most popular response was “Well… probably not!”

Today, however, his doubters are eating a serious serving of proverbial “crow” as a dress that he custom made for Tess McCracken did indeed walk the carpet at the world premier of “Wicked” in Los Angeles on Saturday night in Los Angeles. McCracken was on the arm of her boyfriend, 2024 Olympic medal winning gymnast & current “Dancing With the Stars” breakout star, Stephen Nedoroscik.

“Take that all you doubters!” That’s a quote from us… not Evan, but we’re sure we secretly speak for him as well!

For an actual quote, Evan Hirsch said of the dress he confected for Wicked, “I worked with Tess to create this custom look for the Wicked premiere in Los Angeles. She told me she wanted to wear dark green and that was her only parameter. I used my love of musical theater and Wicked (being one of the first shows I had become obsessed with at 8 years old) and created a custom look. I incorporated sequins, flowing tulle that defies gravity, and dyed feathers that invoked Elpheba, the title character.”

McCracken has been quite the fan of the white hot designer, Evan Hirsch of late. Only a month ago, McCracken contracted Evan Hirsch to create a dress for her to wear on set for Nedoroscik’s appearance on the “Hair Metal” themed episode of Dancing With the Stars. McCracken has been covered each week for her thematic support of her boyfriend’s efforts & the couple have become a darling duo of the media. Hair Metal Week was no exception…

Evan Hirsch reports, “Tess always shows her support for her boyfriend Stephen by matching his dancing costume and the theme in general each week on Dancing With the Stars. This allowed me to channel the hard rock theme into a flame print mini dress with chain appliqués.” On social media immediately following the appearance everyone was trying to figure out who dressed Tess… mystery revealed!
