New York, NY (May 7, 2024)
In fashion circles, the proverbial “first Monday in May” has become something akin to the Super Bowl. Each year, fashionistas the world over are glued to their streaming services to see what New York’s fashion set will be wearing as they walk up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art to the main doors of the “Met Gala” as thousands of camera flashes go ablaze.
At this year’s Met Gala, a new name graced the white carpeted stairs on three attendees, Evan Hirsch. The young up & coming designer’s handiwork completed the looks of three well-dressed attendees.

Evan Hirsch is known as the “maestro of convertible fashion” on TikTok, where his videos regularly get views way, way, way into the millions. His convertible trickery was alive & well on the cape he created for The Honorable Bobby Digi Olisa for his entrance on the arm of his date Laurie Cumbo. The black silk velvet cape was emblazoned with a white embroidered clock on the front which could then be swept over the shoulders to convert to a white silk floral ornamented version that evoked a “botanical super hero moment”. The marriage of the white clock & white flowers was a fitting homage to the theme of the much anticipated evening, “The Garden of Time”.

Evan’s workmanship isn’t just in the convertible realm. NY City Council Member Keith Powers & his date, Layla Amjadi both donned an Evan Hirsch accessory, a black clutch with a matching black camellia for Ms. Amjadi & a white silk rose for Mr. Powers. Both pieces complemented the wearers’ gown & tuxedo to perfection.
About Evan Hirsch:

TV host Tamron Hall recently featured Evan on her “Up & Coming Designers to Watch” series during New York Fashion Week & has since had him on the show with a follow-up video to let her audience know how he’s progressing.
