SEEKING OUTGOING ONES

To make a television show happen, you need an interesting premise. Something that T.V. executives get excited about, and that can be something that hasn’t been done before. Liz Gately, the mastermind behind the creation of “Laguna Beach”, went on the “Reality Life With Kate Casey” podcast today to talk about what it took to conceive “Laguna Beach”. It took a rejection from Beverly Hills H.S., Janet Jackson’s infamous Super Bowl nipple-gate to kick filming out of school that crafted this new blueprint to reality T.V., and Liz telling a doubting MTV executive that everything is happening. But the huge driver with “Laguna Beach” was the casts. The goal, casting kids with ambition.

And who better to be the poster children of “Laguna Beach’s” ambitious casts were our favorite trio, Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, and Stephen Colletti. Lauren, the holy grail of this very “Laguna Beach” universe wanted to be a fashion designer, as episodes show her attending runway shows out in LA. Kristin, who wasn’t even there on casting day, and part of a perfect accidental love triangle, was adamant on being a broadcaster. Stephen, main reason for the love triangle, wanted to be a host.

Now add in the hype, and overwhelming ratings “Laguna Beach” got in its first 2 seasons, you have Lauren, Kristin, and Stephen’s ambitions met, and slayed. The people behind “Laguna Beach” who made this series as interesting, and as real as possible brought an amazing gift to those who watched. And to these 3 who had ambition, they are forever grateful for the opportunity, and the final outcome.
