It Keeps Getting Stronger

IMG on Wednesday announced additional designers joining the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) Resort 18 Collections schedule, including DYSPNEA, GARY BIGENI, MAGGIE MARILYN, and ZAMBESI.

Additionally, six designers have been awarded a coveted showcase in the NEXTGEN Show Tuesday 16 May 2017 at 11am: ISABELLE QUINN, MEREDITH BULLEN, SARAH HOPE SCHOFIELD, STANZEE, STEPHANIE HENLY and VICTORIA BLISS.

More than 56 designers are confirmed to take part in Australia’s premiere fashion industry event at Carriageworks, Sunday 14 May 2017 through Friday 19 May 2017.

For the first year Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia will launch onsite Trade Showrooms “The Suites” to foster the economic growth of the Australian Fashion Industry.

This gives designers the opportunity to extend their exposure beyond the runway, capitalizing on post-show momentum and engaging with buyers directly.

The Suites confirmed designers include PARED EYEWEAR, HOLLY RYAN, VALE DENIM, MPNT, DUSKII, WE ARE KINDRED, DOUBLE RAINBOUU, PAGEANT and many more.

Clean Cut Fashion Association, Ragtrader and WGSN will host three thought leadership seminars focused on the future of the fashion industry on Friday 19 May 2017.

  • Clean Cut Fashion Association Presents: Future Talks #3 will be hosted by renowned Australian author and journalist Clare Press and feature experts discussing the importance of quality over quantity, off shore and on shore manufacturing and future proofing our fashion industry in a globalized world. Clare will be joined by Australian designers Manning Cartell and Bianca Spender.

 

  • Ragtrader Live powered by St.George will be presented in two parts.

    Part 1: The Business of Marketing.  How has the rise of digital media influenced the way fashion brands communicate to consumers?  With more businesses utilising social media channels to grow revenue and profile, what best-practice strategies can they use to stay ahead of the curve? Leading fashion digital influencers Sara Donaldson, Nadia Bartel and Jasmin Howell will reveal key insights into what works, what doesn’t and what has real commercial viability.

  • Part 2: The Business of Design. With more commercial opportunities available to designers in a globalised world, how can they maximise sales? A power panel of designers will discuss sales strategies, business advice and how designers can flourish in a competitive marketplace.

WGSN Trend Talk will be presented in two parts.
Part 1: Fashion Futures.  In a digital and global age, it’s crucial to look beyond the obvious to stay on top of the latest trends. In this session, WGSN trend expert Helen Sac, will explore the global drivers shaping consumer demand and what it means for fashion today. Starting with a seasonal overview, she will also explore catwalks, lifestyle and culture trends in the global and Australian markets.

Part 2: Panel Discussion.  Made in Australia featuring Dion Lee, Marnie Goss from Camilla and Marc, and Net-A-Porter’s Retail Fashion Director Lisa Aiken.
