Australian luxury fashion brand, CAMILLA AND MARC, today have been named the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designers for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) in 2018.
CAMILLA AND MARC will present their Resort 2018 collection as the coveted opening show to kick off Australia’s largest industry-based fashion event.
The ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents CAMILLA AND MARC’ event on Sunday, May 13 will mark the latest chapter for the brand that shot to prominence 15 years ago at MBFWA as a ‘New Generation’ designer.
Says Camilla Freeman-Topper “We are thrilled to open Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in 2018. It was our platform to launch the brand in 2003 and we have enjoyed many highlights together. It is exciting to reflect on 15 years and all the experiences we’ve had.”
“It’s a fantastic platform for young, up-and-coming and established designers to present their collections and amplify to a local and a global audience” adds Marc Freeman.
The ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents CAMILLA AND MARC’ event will kick off a week-long schedule packed with Australia’s most notable and rising fashion talents. In being named the keynote designer, CAMILLA AND MARC join some distinguished alumni that includes Dion Lee, who was the ‘Mercedes Benz Presents’ designer in 2017, Toni Maticevski in 2016, Kym Ellery in 2015 and Carla Zampatti in 2014.
Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific CEO and Managing Director Horst von Sanden said the transformation of CAMILLA AND MARC once again demonstrates the importance of giving new and rising talent a platform to be seen.
“From an unknown 15 years, ago to the fashion powerhouse of CAMILLA AND MARC today, this is why the continuing support of Mercedes-Benz for the fashion industry matters so much” he said.
“Through design, innovation and technology, the worlds of fashion and automotive have so much in common. For this reason, we have supported the Australian fashion industry for more than two decades and it gives us great pleasure to provide a platform for fashion talent, here in Australia and all around the world.”
Both CAMILLA AND MARC will personally enjoy partnering with Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific. The relationship with Mercedes Benz is also somewhat nostalgic for both Camilla and Marc on a personal level.
“Our father owned Mercedes-Benz cars when we were growing up so partnering with this iconic brand brings back many happy family memories. Our key message of luxury and tailoring draws a link between the considered detail that goes into designing and manufacturing a Mercedes-Benz vehicle. With a commitment to supporting Australian fashion, we couldn’t think of a more perfect partnership” said Marc Freeman.
“I welcome CAMILLA AND MARC as the newest member of the Mercedes-Benz family and look forward to the next chapter in their remarkable success story” said Horst von Sanden.
Mercedes-Benz supports fashion events globally, lending its name to over 50 events during the year in more than 30 countries.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia kicks off on May 13 with the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents event at Sydney’s Carriageworks and continues until May 18.
