Content Built Around You

There’s a world out there that will eat you up if you let it, constant flames of information shooting out at you in every corner or pothole that’s easily missed, so much news, facts, opinions, and negative feedback about the world without filter that you’re consumed by it all and forever changed about what you see and who you know, but only one media operation celebrates and keeps you in mind, it’s Vox that celebrated its 5th anniversary Thursday night at The Line Hotel in our beautiful nation’s capitol that is Washington, D.C.

Five years ago, Ezra Klein, Melissa Bell, and Matt Yglesias founded Vox with what Editor-in-Chief Lauren Williams now describes as “a pristine clarity of purpose” that has, in five years, translated across beats, platforms, and mediums. Vox explains. Vox gives the context. Vox goes deep. Vox puts its audience first.

On Vox’s fifth anniversary, this clarity of purpose is the through-line of its best work, in-depth explainers on Vox.com; Emmy-nominated YouTube videos; “Explained” on Netflix; podcasts such as “Today”, “Explained” and “The Weeds”; “Future Perfect” and “The Goods” verticals; “The Highlight” on Apple News+; and its upcoming partnership with Recode.

The Vox fifth anniversary party at The Line Hotel in Adam’s Morgan were filled with all its Vox staffers that included Jim Bankoff, Melissa Bell, Ezra Klein, Susan Rice, Ian Cameron, Mike Allen, Sally Quinn, Heather Podesta, Dylan Byers, Nedra Pickler, Matt Yglesias, Sarah Kliff, Jeremy Bash, Robyn Bash, Steve Clemons, Anne-Marie Slaughter, Brian Stelter, Jim Acosta, Kyle Dropp, Sara Fischer, Lynn Sweet, Jeff Zeleny, Kate Nocera, Dave Weigel, Natalie Cucchiara, Matt Rivera, Ryan Reilly, Betsy Woodruff, Igor Bobic, Alex Seitz-Wald, Nick Johnston, Margaret Carlson, Jonathan Swan, Meridith Webster, Pam Stevens, Didem Nisanci, Nate Tibbits, David DiMartino, Bruce Andrews, Jay Newton-Small, Mark Ein, Allison Rockey, Lauren Williams, Geoff Morell, Heather Podesta, Eric Schultz, Carol Lee, and Eric Lipton.

On behalf of Lauren Williams, Allison Rockey, Joe Posner, and the rest of Vox’s leadership team, they say thank you to everyone who has read, watched, and listened to Vox in the last five years.
