Good Beyond The Runway
Burberry announced first thing today that it’s making an all out effort to help those in the medical profession, revealing their contributions to use their precious resources, as well as donations to grab hold of the COVID19 virus.
Burberry will deliver 100,000 surgical masks to the UK National Health Service that will be used by their medical staff, which Burberry will utilize its global supply chain network to fast-track delivery on the mask.
Burberry will also retool it’s trench coat factories in Castleford and Yorkshire to make non-surgical gowns and masks for patients, production and distribution will be subject to approval from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency before dispenses.
Burberry will also be fighting to eradicate COVID19 by funding research into a single-dose vaccine developed by the University of Oxford (who’s best known for developing emergency vaccines for fighting Ebola and MERS) that is on course to begin human trials next month.
Burberry’s also on a mission to combating food poverty during COVID19 as it will donate to the food charities of FareShare and The Felix Project that’ll set up community produce hubs, delivering food to young children who rely on free school meals and increasing pre-packed food parcels to help food banks cope with demand and maintain social distancing policies.
In spite of Burberry reporting staggering losses due to COVID19, Burberry is in a well off position thanks to its popularity, and the revenue it brings in for all its existence because of what makes Burberry great to fight COVID19 in a more fundamental way than other brands so far.
