The Hurt Is Still On
It was not another good week for the job market, as the United States Department Of Labor reported today that an additional 6,606,000 filed for unemployment, though it’s 261,000 less than last week’s terribly historic 6,867,000 reported, the total number of claims filed over the last 3 weeks comes to a roughly grave, and historic 16.5 million out of work.
As people have already settled into their new quarantined lives, most have met pink slips from their employers, regardless if they’re already working at home or not, and it’s no surprise that they’ll be more staggering numbers out next week from the Department Of Labor.
It all comes down to the needs of these employers on whether they’re workers are essential to them or not, and whether it’s worth keeping their employees working since nothing is going on, if not furloughed.
The grim reality too is sales are not being made in areas like fashion, or media companies seeing their sponsors and advertisers pull their ads because of no spending, leading to media companies also to slash their budgets on creating new contents as no ad revenue is coming in.
