The Hood Is My Stage

It’s certainly a tough break with Broadway being shutdown until at least June 7, no way to be captivated by the talent such performers bring to the crossroads of the world that is Times Square in New York City, but that doesn’t have to be so as the “CBS Evening News with Norah O’ Donnell” reported tonight about Broadway legend, Brian Stokes Mitchell, belting out song from the window of his apartment at 98th and Broadway where Daniel plus Lauren is familiar with via Hosteling International.

Passerby’s stop with their masks on or off their face hear Brian belt out “The Impossible Dream” from Broadway’s “The Man of La Mancha”, where Brian adds 2 words to this song (The Quest), meaning it’s not impossible to find a cure for COVID, all you have to do is try.

Mitchell sings out to his neighborhood to simply show his gratitude, gratitude because he knows what it’s like to suffer from COVID19, having a high fever, losing sense of taste, and feeling like you’ve been hit like a truck.

Brian’s also in it to fight for his fellow actors as Brian heads The Actor’s Fund, which continues to raise money for actors and crew who are out of work right now with the shutdown of Broadway that’s extended to June 7.
