We’re There For The Artists

Rosie O’ Donnell came through in a big way tonight for Broadway as Rosie along with Erich Bergen revived “The Rosie O’ Donnell Show” that was live-streamed on Broadway.com and the site’s YouTube channel for an all-star benefit to raise money for The Actor’s Fund, raising over a half a million dollars in the 3 and a half hour livestream.

This one night only event led by Rosie herself had the best, and the brightest from the Broadway community come out to appear, and perform who were Kristin Chenoweth, Billy Porter, Katherine McPhee with husband, David Foster, Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Krakowski, Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick, Barry Manilow, Laura Benanti, Lin Manuel Miranda, Lauren Patton, and Brian Stokes Mitchell, who chairs The Actor’s Fund.

The Actor’s Fund supports more than actors in need, it extends all the way to behind the scenes people like ushers, technicians, producers, production assistants, lighting, understudies, just to name a few, support also goes as far as to supporting one’s family for whatever reason and whatever need.

Even the main staples of Broadway have admitted they’ve fallen on hard times like living paycheck to paycheck, or being one or 3 paychecks away from bankruptcy depending on the situation, some actors have to live with 3 to 4 people to make it in New York City since it’s so expensive, and salaries aren’t so high, and having a shutdown devastated Broadway to its core, which Daniel plus Lauren touched on in 3 articles.

One who’s given undivided love to The Actor’s Fund was Billy Porter, who had no shame in admitting he’s needed help from time to time from the organization, and you can still donate now to The Actor’s Fund by going to give.actorsfund.org/rosie.
