Live From Quarantine

For what’s been about 3 months, there’s nothing to do but stay home to stop the spread of COVID19, and maybe be sad that the Tony’s tonight didn’t take place, but an alternate unifying event happened instead, the “Grease Sing-A-Long” on the “CBS Sunday Night Movies”, a chance to get along with each other for at least one night, and for the kids to take center stage since their theater shows may have been cancelled once the country went on lockdown.

By chance, you know what “Grease” is, you’ve seen it on Broadway, you’ve seen the film, and you’ve seen it in local variations at community theater or high school theater, no matter how you know “Grease”, it was definitely your moment, your living room turns into the stage, and your family becomes the audience you’ve been dying to perform in front of, belting out those songs, stepping to those dance numbers, and dressing up like Danny and Sandy, Rizzo, or any of the Pink Ladies.

What was suppose to be stage lights and bucket seats for young performers to face with anxiety, state fright, and performance jitters, the 4K TV and comfy sofas instantly stepped up from their roles as understudies to now be the leads for you to perform, and take that moment with you on your next audition.

There may be one or 2 house lights on in many Broadway stages right now until what may be early 2021, but there’s always time to pause, and perform your favorite scene, dance numbers, or that show tune you just can’t get out of your head, don’t let the new normal stop you.
