New York Men’s Day which is part of New York Fashion Week, took place on February 9, 2024 which was the first day of NYFW for the F/W 2024 season. Hilldun, a factoring business for the fashion industry sponsored the show. In other words, if you have orders, they will loan you the money to produce the fashions with interest. The show was produced by Agentry PR and there is Henry one of the staff members in the lower left corner of the photo. In my first photo I’m showing how the men looked when they came to the show. One of the biggest trends of men’s fashions that I saw at the show was the “man skirt” which was usually a kilt or pleated. All of the designers were up and coming on the men’s fashion scene.

BULAN
A collection of sweaters that are artistic in bold bright colors. The theme of presention was the “Garbage Collection” and it was designed by Beam Ratchapol Ngaongam who I interviewed. The knits are knitted by hand and then machine stitched into a cut and sew sweater in China. The designer’s concept was to create a sweater that has never been done before and that he certinaly did. The turquoise sweater with the tassels in the upper left hand corner of the photo was made sustainable by using recyced plastic in the yarn. The rest of the sweaters were made with merino wool. As a fashion industry expert I like to feel the fabrics and these sweaters were very thick and of the highest quailty. Some pieces are on size fits all and others S/M/L. The sweaters retail from $450.00 – $1,000.00. To shop WWW.BULANNEWYORK.COM.

SIVAN
At the presentation I had the pleasure of interviewing designer/tailor Jack Sivan. The collection was vintage inspired by the “Dandies” 18th and 19th century in men’s fashions. Jack uses high quality fabrics sourced locally and the clothes are custom made to fit each person’s measurements. This is traditional menswear, all the shapes are classic, and you can wear these clothes for years without looking out of style. Jackets have wide lapels and are featured with skinny leg pants. Big over coats are roomy enough to add a suit underneath and still feel very comfortable. He uses lots pinstripes in suits and shirts. To order WWW.JACKSIVAN.COM

LANDEROS NEW YORK
The A/W 2024 collection was called Area and this was a runway show not a presentation. Retro inspired by the disco fashions of the 1970s to mid 1980s. Lots of satin was used throughout the collection which is made in NYC. I love the pretty pastel shades of rose pink and orchid which were inspired by what musician Nick Rhodes wore back in that era. Sleeves the button and unbutton at the bottom are an interesting detail that makes these jackets so special. A unisex collection designed by Andre Gerard Michel Jr. The tailored collection has jackets, coats, pants, shirts and jumpsuits. This is custom made to measure right in NYC’s garment district. A line by Max Israel is targeting the neglected age group of men over 40 with this collection. The fit is European but there are 30 pant sizes with 3 pant lengths which is a wonderful concept since not everyone is the same height or average size. Backs of jackets are slopped and tapered to hide a not so perfect body. Earthtone colors are in harmony with each other and are pretty much monochromatic. As many people get older, they have a bit of a bigger waist so the pants have an elastic waist in the back for comfort. All of these pieces can be worn in the country, city or in the suburbs seamlessly without having to change your clothes for each area. This line of classic clothing is for the everyday guy who doesn’t want to look flamboyant but wants high quality fabrics that will last. Shirts are sized S – XXXL so they will be able to fit most men. Prices $200.00 – $800.00 approximately. To shop; WWW.YCHROMA.COM
