Both shows were held together at the Javits Center on February 20 – 22, 2024 but on different floors. I will explain the difference between the two shows. CoterieWWW.COTERIEFASHIONEVENTS.COM is more designer driven with big name brands and more sophisticated style fashion. Magic WWW.MAGICFASHIONEVENTS.COM is more trend driven and caters toward the contemporary and junior customer and some missy clothing that was tailored toward a more traditional customer. Both shows had shoes, clothing, accessories and some beauty items.

Now, I know you’re waiting for me to tell you about all the trends I saw because you think I’m Miss Trendy. Pants – wide legged and high waisted, cargo pocketed or bell bottoms in denim; Skirts – straight and long almost to the ankle or mid-calf and A -line or circle worn with crop jackets; Blouses – short puff sleeve or even newer is the leg-o-mutton sleeve; Dresses are lace/organza with tired skirts as seen in the blue and white style in the photo. Accessories: Bucket, fedora, cloche hats with some western styles continuing. Shoes are new in pointed toe flats or kitten heels adorned on the toe with big bows but cowboy boots, Maryjane’s and loafers with lug soles continue.  Jewelry was all about thick chains with coin charms as accents but for summer resin jewelry in bright colors ruled. Bags are structured but getting so tiny that you can’t even put your phone in them so they are used just for keys, cash and cards to make your nighttime outfit look even more cutesy.  Belts newness is with geometric buckles in metal.

CASA DE COCO

A luxury line of pretty printed 100% silk chiffon, cotton and linen clothing. Paula is the designer and Italy is where the fabric comes from and the clothes are made so no wonder the prints were so pretty. This romantic collection was inspired by flowers and roses. Extremely feminine, colorful, ruffled and ladylike describes these fashions. These styles can take you from day time with a pair of ballerina flats to evening by adding high heeled sandals. Great for resort or summer. Styles are long and short dresses and frilly blouses. Colors are brights and pastels that look just like watercolor paintings. This collection was at Coterie.

Sized XS – XL and priced $150.00 – $800.00. For everyone living or visiting Florida, they have a store, Coco Y Cabana, 795 5th Ave. South, Naples, Florida,  34114. If you’re not going to be in Florda then shop online. WWW.CASADECOCO.COM.

DESIRE DENIM

This was a new to Magic Collection of denim bottoms. There are two guys that started the brand before Covid in Brazil. The 14-ounce denim fabric is sourced in Brazil and all the garments are made there by home seamstress there by providing jobs to the people in the community. The brand is about joy and kindness because that is how the owners feel about Brazil.  Each piece contains some sort of unique element such as silk screen prints, crochet, embroidery, appliques and metal rings at the ends of seams.  Lots of heart motifs used on patch pockets and metal rings attached to the side seams of shorts. Styles of jeans are high waisted and wide legged. Shorts are very short with high waist too. The line also consists of many cool printed denim shorts that I haven’t seen anywhere else in the market.

The brand’s slogan, “No More Boring Denim”, is the perfect description for this collection!  Sized 0 – 14 and priced $108.00 – $128.00 for shorts. You won’t see yourself coming or going in this collection, that’s for sure. WWW.DESIREDENIM.COM.

JAYLEY

Fun fun and color are the words to describe this collection.  When I walked by the booth at Coterie I thought what a faboulous collection of faux furs. You won’t be boreing when you wear these jackets and coats styled in the United Kingdom, that’s for sure. The coats come in mini, midi and maxi lengths and are meant to be worn open but you can also clasp them. I tried them on and lots of room to put a blazer underneath because they are oversized. The line conist of coats, jackets, trimed gloves, bags and scarves all in  Crayola Crayon colors.  These items are of very high quaility since the brand owns their own factory in China.  They also make a line of sweaters not shown in my photo of bamboo and banna peel blended with a rayon and cashmere blend. Sizes are XS – XL, priced $149.99 – $499.00 for coats and jackets. For more, go to WWW.JAYLEY.COM.

ISABELA CAPETO

A beautiful line of embellished jean jackets in colors besides blue as seen at Coterie. The collection was designed for major stores in America but now the owners are taking it to the public on their own. The jackets are handmade in Brazil in cotton, denim and wool by seamstresses working with the designer, Isabela for over 25 years. The label of the jacket tells the story of how many hours of labor it took to make that paticular jacket. Another thing that label tells you is how many of each style jackets can be produced. All the embellishment such as appliques and embroidery are all stitched by hand on to the jacket. The studds are even put in by a hand press. The workmanship is so perfect that even many of the buttonholes are put in by hand and that’s lots of work!  Even the hand beading is in a tropical motif because the jackets are in Brazil.

These jackets are pieces of art that are so beautiful and well made that you can hand them down to your daughters someday. Sized XS – XL and priced $700.00 – $1,200.00 and they are unisex. Go shop WWW.ISABELACAPETO.COM.BR.
