HONORING HOME COUNTRY
Famed fashion designer, Victor De Souza, brought his highly regarded fall and winter 2024 collection over to the ‘Consulate of Argentina in New York’ on Wednesday to a very historic space. Victor took the most notorious women’s pieces from his upcoming collection for this native land headquarters in Manhattan. DANIEL PLUS LAUREN was invited to witness this special edition that included detailing you could not find in Victor’s FW 24-25 show during New York Fashion Week. Notable details include lace, flower made dresses, contrasting metal hardware, and gold-plated flowers designed by Victor De Souza himself.
On this high quality heavy yarn dress you would admire the details of the wide open silhouette. This time, Victor De Souza adds contrasting blue metallic detailing to gray texture. The lovely floral patterns in royal blue are lined like a vine with pops of floral bulbs blooming with leaves poking out the vine like design. Not only do you see lovely reflecting tiny disks of blue make up each flower, you also see spotlights of blended silver looped into leaves patterns and even bigger flower blooms as you drive along this bulky silhouette gray inspiring metallic detail.
Detailing is the most-important aspect of every item when designing a garment of any kind. It’s not only Victor’s fall and winter 2024/ 2025 collection that’s here at the Argentinian Consulate, it’s also spring and summer of this year, 2024. Beads and lace are lined up in beautiful motion on peach colored blazers in wavy and vine-like fashion to honor the type of detail material involved. The most notable with Victor De Souza SS 2024 is one of his dresses are made up of the flower that’s organza, lined up inside with borax, and organza shaped carefully to hold strong as a garment. On this spring collection, the most shining moment at the top image before this paragraph is the metallic gold flower that Victor De Souza designed and uniquely shaped himself, one part of this flower was given to DANIEL PLUS LAUREN.
If you look closely, you’ll notice 2 favorites to spot here with Victor De Souza. The first should be the 8 buttons you see lined up at the corset like shape. All 8 gold buttons are not made the same across each button, each button has its own shape and contrasting detail against one another. The next is the silhouette, it’s an hourglass figure with the blazer and skirt combined on this lovely shade of blue floral patterned dress. Victor’s foresight to this piece is truly a classic, a touch of masculine silhouette femininely balanced with the sexy hourglass figure.
In this house of what is the original design of French quarters, the Argentinian Consulate is home to Victor De Souza because Argentina is Victor’s native homeland. Victor also loves how the original design of this home is kept how it was originally built and laid out. It’s not suffice to Victor to take something that others may see as dated, and modernize it to favor a renewed lease. That’s what innovative in Victor De Souza’s fall collection and current spring collection. Victor De Souza takes classic fashion design aesthetic to combine classic silhouettes with high quality yarns and fabrics. This idea of high-end fashion is what keeps classic garments fresh and modern.
