THOUGHTFUL USEFULNESS

On this final day of ICFF/ WantedDesign home decor trade show here in New York City, DANIEL PLUS LAUREN came across new exhibitors and their innovative products. Proper use of your home is key, especially the fireplace where stacking your tinder is key with The DFA Fire Chair. Finding light equals finding innovation, Studio Waah creates sustainable light through laundry inspiration. And imagine having a luscious landscaping look in your home without all the toil, Greenmood’s sustainable items take preservation to a whole new level.

THE DFA FIRE CHAIR

Building a romantic fire for your fireplace for some is a no-brainer. But for many others, it turns out to be a smoky and choking problem, fireplace design can cause smoke to fill your living room in some homes. The DFA Fire Chair implies engineering for an innovative two-tiered fire grate. The lower tier is where you stack your tinder right up against the fireplace wall, then you light your match under the lower tier, and the smoke rises up instead of in.

All of your ash and embers land piled on the chimney floor, stay lit for much longer, and you’re able to stack more tinder for fire to last longer. Rising smoke up to the flue allows for a cleaner burning fire, and less creosote builds on your chimney wall. If you want a Girls Scout high fire, the higher level tier allows you to stack higher for a higher fire.

Architect, Daniel Frisch, AIA, designed this patent-pending DFA Fire Chair for his extra large fireplace in his farm house. Daniel appreciates his beautifully designed, engineered, and fully functional DFA Fire Chair from smoke filling up his living room. And from his neighbors calling the fire department, whom he connects with since one fireman has the same problem.

STUDIO WAAH

If you’re seeking out an innovative way to light a spot inside your home, you have to go back to your childhood where light made you happy. These ICFF newcomers of Studio Waah took childhood memories and got creative with light. The creators behind this 3 light fixture grew up in the hottest part of India, remembering sun-dried laundry brought in out of the hot sun. In this trinity of light, the long white drapery like fixture represents that hot sheet just sun-dried in hot India.

But the most fun part about these 3 lights are that once you put each light bulb on its pod, it lights up at first contact. Studio Waah says that no metal was used for this magnetic-like function, where 2 white plates placed on pod and bulb latch on automatically. You have a beautiful light piece made to look like sun-dried laundry with 2 bulbs on the side, and one bulb on top.

GREENMOOD

You want to have a lush and lavish home filled with green landscaping all around your furniture and decor. But, only one problem, all of your bushes and plants die out over time, and it’s far from easy to maintain, or even sustainable to call it that. Welcome to Greenmood, a place where plants, and moss are preserved. Greenmood takes long-lasting moss and creates wonderful wall fixtures that celebrate real moss with forever technology. One clear example are textured frames not only in iconic green that look like moss, but can also be manufactured to appear as if they were velvet leaves.

Textured frames not only come in green, but also plum and cream colors found not just in squares, but circles. You can also find wine cork tremendously put to good use with decorative cork wall tiles in various designs. Parenthese, sillon, brickx, and morse are the chosen designs to make wonderful cork wall tiles that also give a 3D effect in real life for its textured fat appearance.

Greenmood’s sustainable and beautiful framed textured moss and cork wine tiles are a godsend for hotel lobbies. Not only is Greenmood beautiful, but easy to maintain. Cork also serves hotels well with cork plant potteries to hold true plant moss that’s also preserved, but moss that’s also real. Preserved moss tree plants in cork potteries are the big mainstay you can see when checking into your hotel in five-star hotels here in New York City.

CONCLUSION

Throughout all these 3 days at the annual ICFF/ WantedDesign trade show, we’ve seen heart stopping high-end furniture made from marble, Italian designers, and Brazilian designers. We’ve also seen new exhibitors emerge with this newly redesigned ICFF trade show. Students and new exhibitors alike provide extremely helpful and innovative ways to improve the quality of your home. Sustainability has cemented itself to be the saving grace for homes and businesses who want to be beautiful with zero maintenance whatsoever. And it’s possible for designers to design a platform to help you better design and arrange the furniture in your home, while aiming to improve smart technology and AI.
