BRAIN-FREE USEFULNESS

Walking into your home, the task to cook on the stove or throw clothes in the washer should be just one step. So much so as if the appliance scans you before you press on. In today’s live discussion with GROHE bathroom fixtures on this third and final day of 2024 ICFF/ WantedDesign here in New York City, we lay out the future of the luxury home. The next step in smart technology for all your appliances in the bathroom, the luxury room, and in the kitchen.

Smart technology has greatly improved the way we live in our home. For the luxury home, the concept goes deeper, and much farther than anyone’s use to. GROHE doesn’t shy away from luxury homes having smart technology in every room you step into. Literally, a stove or oven knows what foods you’re cooking, or how much water you use when brushing your teeth.

There’s only one dilemma with smart technology according to today’s GROHE panel, there’s too many options on one appliance. Most homeowners use one setting with the washer/ dryer or on the stove, and don’t bother with other functions. Instead of raising awareness for those unsung functions, GROHE poses that we improve smart technology not only with less options, but improving upon the options we do use mainly. Improving the appliance overall to work much stronger, more functional, and know about our habits before we even approach the machine.

For DANIEL PLUS LAUREN personally, a common washer/ dryer with so many buttons is annoying, but that’s only if it takes 45 or more minutes to wash. The next chapter of smart technology is not only about taking a minimalist approach in favor of a more highly functional appliance, it’s also about implying AI (artificial intelligence). The appliance in the luxury home before the common home will know about you according to your algorithms before you even make that buy, let alone before your refrigerator is installed. You will have a kitchen appliance scan your entire kitchen, tell you what cooking tools and ingredients to use when sautéing chicken breast, adjust how much heat to use, and wash your dishes according to how heavy the soil is.

Smart technology can also have the ability to keep your water clean and sustainable. Luxury homes are being built around supplying clean water every time you flush, step in the shower, and go for a glass of water. You could see new filtration systems built to separate waste and other dirty elements found in your water where you will only see clean bathing and drinkable water supplied every time. DANIEL PLUS LAUREN sees a new luxury home built or entirely renovated with connectivity, electronics, appliances, fueling, cooling, and electricity with new waves of smart technology in mind, also fitting into the YOLO home.
