STANDING ON HISTORY

Footwear for one has left its mark on the population, showing off the hardware and detailed choices that make a shoe can’t miss. Like any ole trend in fashion, sneakers are no stranger to pivoting styles from one to another. Taking up the trends of the past can surely create new ideas with worldly options of sourcing which at the smallest level can leave a mark. COTERIE today here in New York City offers up some GOLA, or GOLA Classics as it’s currently known as where this British shoe line borrows the past to create the future.

Created in 1905, GOLA borrows from the influences of the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s which GOLA had championed to create a retro sneaker for now that’s cool. GOLA has seen its fare share of sneaker styles today that previously were in favor of dad sneakers with a wide heel. But thanks to millennials, GOLA has found itself creating a streamline sneaker of the past with unprecedented detail and so comfortable. Alligator and metallics rule this sans “dad sneakers” approach for a more streamlined shoe that too is stylish.

But that’s not the most-important thing with GOLA in this latest edition, it’s all about keeping the shoe comfortable. GOLA also adds colors and additional minor details to sneakers each season from a previous era or even last season. There’s definitely no shortage of remarkable style showing off past and present with GOLA so it can take on the latest trends without leaving its past behind.
