Alida Boer displayed her latest and most beautiful handbag collection yet during a press preview in New York City Tuesday over at Dream Downtown right before the start of New York Fashion Week.

Attending this exciting event were prominent people such as Andreas Wijk, Edgar Navarro, Emma Snowdon Jones, Mayte Allende, Paige Reddinger, Lorenzo Atkinson, and Jennifer Wright.

Along with an array of beautifully designed handbags from Alida, the press preview was filled with photo ops, as well as some Perrier with many bottles of champagne to go with it, making the atmosphere even more lively.

Alida, who is the former Miss Guatemala, founded Maria’s which is becoming one of the premier handbag brands of Guatemala, and was recently launched here in the United States so we all notice the rich cultural and textile heritage Guatemala brings.

Maria’s is all about addressing the socio-economical struggles of Guatemala creating a platform for women who fall victim to wedlock at an early age, and are subject to domestic violence.

Maria’s handbags are created by women who are mothers themselves, and Maria’s also offers over 250 children access to free education and meals.

Alida Boer is deeply passionate about promoting on a worldwide scale the exceptional indigenous hand-made textiles of Guatemala, and giving back to her country by supporting the local women and their families with education and fair payment.
