White-Hot Runway
Custo Barcelona presented his new line for Fall/Winter 2017: Light Years, an ode to individuality, and “shining the light”.
Fall/Winter 2017 is an innovative collection in which color is nuanced through the variations of reflexion and radiance of the fabrics.
Light Years is built around iridescent lamé, fabrics with metallic finish, laminated fabrics, textures embossed with metal glitter, nets of Lurex thread, and sparkles of colors of precious stones, delicately combined to create feminine and fashionable silhouettes.
Custo Barcelona’s experiments in blending fabrics and new patterns have culminated in a selection of women’s apparel: minis with strategic openings that reveal the skin, asymmetries, frills, and patchwork detail of infinite pieces joined together with grace and elegance.
The coats and jackets are inflated into macro pieces to cover the smaller dresses and sweatshirts and shield their openings from the cold.
The designs for men also play with light and metallic textures in oversized coats, raincoats, double-breasted jackets, and skinny pants with sporty finish, all fabrics shine with velvet jacquard, twill, and Ottoman mixed with Lurex.
The Custo man breaks away from convention for more modern ideas that use light to express personality.
After over 20 years of being on the runway, Custo Barcelona is a must-see at New York Fashion Week, and the press and fans of the company joined together once again at Pier 59 Studios to view its new line for the coming fall/winter season.
