IMG today announced the winners of the Australian Fashion Laureate, celebrating individuals who have contributed to the growth and global promotion of the Australian fashion industry.
Winners across all nine categories were revealed at Café Sydney during a celebratory luncheon bringing the Australian fashion industry together.
The Australian Fashion Laureate celebrated exceptional contributions across categories including Womenswear, Menswear, Emerging Talent, Accessories, Retailer, Model of the Year and Outstanding Creative.
As the pinnacle fashion industry honour, the Australian Fashion Laureate was awarded in recognition of an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Australian fashion industry over time.
Additionally, IMG introduced a new category for 2019, Sustainable Innovation, to recognize brands that are demonstrating leadership or pioneering best practices in sustainability.

Australian Fashion Laureate winners were selected by a voting panel of more than 30 industry leaders, including media, buyers, communications professionals, brand executives, creatives and designers, known as the Australian Fashion Industry Alumni.
“Today’s announcement of the 2019 Australian Fashion Laureate award winners signals the culmination of another strong year for the Australian fashion industry and provides an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate our collective achievements in the company of esteemed peers,” said Natalie Xenita, Executive Director of IMG’s fashion events group for the Asia-Pacific region.
“The introduction of the Sustainable Innovation award category allows our industry to acknowledge the efforts and accomplishments of individuals and brands who are dedicated to lessening fashion’s impact on our environment, and to celebrate the most noteworthy innovations shaping our industry and its future.”
Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said it was great to see Australia’s fashion industry icons gathered in Sydney once again, stating, “The Australian Fashion Laureate was established in 2008 by IMG and the NSW Government to celebrate the leadership and innovation of the country’s fashion industry against the backdrop of the country’s fashion capital, Sydney. It’s fantastic to see local champions emerge through Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in Sydney, go on to create a global impact and in turn be recognised through the Laureate. In the year ending August 2019 fashion sales generated $9.42 billion for NSW, and these events strengthen Sydney’s reputation as a premier destination for resort wear, fashion and retail.”
The Australian Fashion Laureate is an IMG initiative, supported by the NSW Government via Destination NSW, with additional support from Mercedes-Benz, Moet & Chandon, Etihad Airways, GlamCorner and SanPellegrino.
