A New Reality

Art Hearts Fashion partnered with Fashinnovation today for the first of a 2 day marathon webinar on the fashion industry taking the next steps on rebuilding their brands and operations as COVID19 caused tremendous upheaval thanks to stay-at-home orders, shutdowns, and unemployment.

The biggest takeaway with the line of speakers on this first day is sustainability, sustaining operations even though businesses are shutdown and the consumer’s needs have drastically shifted to comfort and essentials, and having compassion for your audience by respecting their pain and not going bold with marketing at this time.

Creativity and passion are needed in this COVID19 pandemic with the fashion industry, getting educated about the tools you have in front of you to pivot your business to online and how to use them, and coming up with campaigns that really hit home to the consumer, sharing your pain about the crisis were in.

In a moment where there’s no time for egos or lack of empathy with your marketing campaigns, and a new way of life is needed in fashion, the lives that need to be spared from starvation right now are those who are unemployed, those who worked in fashion and are now out of work, or are endangering of closing if businesses haven’t already, designers and business owners need help, they need financial support, they need a reason to keep going in these essential times.

There’s hope that since COVID19 has caused every design house to go in directions they never even dreamed of, that production be brought back to the United States instead of overseas, have their plants be near their headquarters so they can access product immediately, without the worry of travel bans.

And it’s possible that a resurgence in plastic could happen since it’s a protective shield against spreading COVID19, or any kind of germs, and it’s perfect since crude oil is selling below zero, where oil companies are asking you to take it no questions asked.

While there’s some design houses and brands that can convert to making essential goods like surgical masks for hospitals and common people, you can still have the drive to find a job in fashion, all you have to do is show how you love a particular brand you’re applying a job at, and have the strength, and willingness to march forward by learning new ways to survive and thrive.
