Your Space Is Your Stage

Variety reported today that Broadway From Home had over 300 guests tune into a performance on Zoom called “Defying Quarantine”, a performance of students between ages 8 to 18 performing their favorite show tunes from Broadway shows, and in full costume and makeup.

Sessions to participate range from $19 to $39, and go to support The Actor’s Fund and City Harvest, charities that help Broadway talent and crew who’ve been affected by the Broadway shutdown, and are not getting a paycheck and are in need of food.

Broadway From Home is a place for students to practice scenes and take dance and audition classes with top Broadway professionals who teach lectures and offer advice, plus students have a devastating void in their lives as their local theater productions were suddenly canceled due to COVID19 shutting down the entire country.

As far as we know now, the Broadway League has extended Broadway’s shutdown until June 7, with some skeptics saying it could go longer, like July or September.
