DANIEL PLUS LAUREN on Tuesday night not only honored their 12 years of Halloween in New York, but honored the 50th anniversary of the iconic East Village Halloween Parade here in lower Manhattan, where the half-century milestone spoke volumes about this year’s theme, one night of the year since 1973 here in New York where we celebrate the spooky, the icons of pop culture, and the sexiness of us New Yorkers who savor this date every year to express our true selves, something we cannot do the other days of the year.

Given how all of the seventies were strictly about liberation of life, that notion stays true no matter the challenges and slight conservative thinking that passes every now and then because we all need an outlet that transports us out of the demands of work and family where we don’t have to answer to expectations of the world and our own circle, a time where we own the one night of the year where we emancipate ourselves, giving us permission to set the tone of our own illusion to come true.

Also with the NYC Halloween Parade’s 50th time strolling down starting at Canal Street all the way up to West 16th down Avenue Of The Americas, no theme was designated, but the 50th anniversary allowed marchers along the route to bring their own theme, whether it celebrated the past, or ushered in habits of new generations, you know you wanted to get a close up of those official participants yourself were marching along with, or being just a spectator watching from barricaded sidewalks just for them to enjoy as the parade marched along.

This New York Halloween Parade truly is a family affair, your love for Halloween is surely not to miss you in your teen years as a resident of New York City, because it allows you to transition from trick-or-treating, to dressing up for the fun of it, growing up beyond spooky and turning into more serious characters that please your senses in every way possible, NYC Halloween Parade also proves to be generational proof along with recession proof, not letting time and turmoil stop it from running, which gifts the young and old a valuable lesson of being aware of themselves, and others.
