Hint: In case you didn’t know who I’m talking about. We’re talking all things Steph Curry. Let’s show this man some love, gratitude, and appreciation for what’s possible. Even though I don’t feel called to become a professional athlete in this lifetime, how he’s come up is an inspiration to pushing myself physically and what I can do as a woman. It reduces the separation and limiting beliefs of what a man can do physically vs. me.

Maybe I have some vested interest because I’m a California native and Golden State has actually done well over the years so I feel like I have some hometown rah rah pride (b/c let’s be honest dgaf about really any other CA teams – at one point I did follow 49ers but they haven’t been doing well so I also like to give time and interest to winners and pop culture – lol ….) to yap about with my guy friends and to impress you with my pro sports knowledge and interest.

Steph Curry didn’t just change basketball, he completely shattered our understanding of what’s possible on the court. The man turned basketball into his personal video game, hitting shots that would make your 2K player look basic.

Back in 2009, when Curry first showed up to the NBA, three-pointers were like side quests – nice to have but not the main mission. Fast forward to now, and thanks to Chef Curry’s cooking, the three-ball is the whole game. This man really said “the whole court is my territory” and meant it. The way he pulls up from literally anywhere has defenders looking like they’re playing tag in a parking lot.

The receipts don’t lie: Curry’s the undisputed three-point king, leaving Ray Allen’s record in the dust. Multiple championships with the Warriors? Check. Two MVP trophies? Including one where every single voter was like “yeah, this guy’s different”? Double check. A recent win for Team USA at the Olympics? Triple check.

Here’s the wild part – while Curry isn’t built like a tank like LeBron or blessed with KD’s cheat-code height, he’s still dominating. His three-point shooting percentage (42.8%) makes Kobe’s (32.9%) look human and even tops Larry Bird’s (37.6%). While AD’s living his best life in the paint, Curry’s out here making half-court shots look like layups. His 24.7 points per game hit different when you realize he’s doing this while being the most guarded player since sliced bread. The way he moves without the ball? Poetry in motion. His handles? Controller-breaking stuff. He’s basically playing the game with cheat codes, but instead of having a 7-foot wingspan, his superpower is making impossible shots look easy.

The coolest part? Curry’s become the blueprint for a whole new generation. He’s proof that you don’t need to be built like a Marvel superhero to change the game or go to some big name D1 school to get drafted. Kids everywhere are trying to be like Steph, pulling up from the logo in their driveways, believing they can be great without being the biggest or strongest.

Beyond all the highlights and stats, Curry’s just different. He plays with this infectious joy that makes basketball look fun again. He’s out there smiling while breaking ankles and hitting game-winners. He’s shown that you can be both a killer on the court, someone who genuinely enjoys the game, and someone who’s humble and supports good causes.

In a league full of giants, Curry’s the regular-sized dude who became a titan. He didn’t just earn his spot among basketball’s GOATs – he created his own category. The game will never be the same (and my life) will never be the same.

Thank you for all the amazing experiences I spent watching you crush with prior roommates, betting against whatever team LeBron was at the time, and all the nights I had something to watch eating dinner with myself in some random bar somewhere in the world.
