With COVID19 crippling theater in every aspect like the Tony’s, productions shutting down for good, and Broadway shutdown till Labor Day with some insiders saying we might not see Broadway open up again till next year, what’s a theater performer and theater lover alike to do, good thing The New York Times is throwing Broadway much needed hope with “Offstage: Opening Night” on June 11 at 7 p.m. EDT, celebrating this year’s newest theater productions like “Tina Turner” & Moulin Rouge” which had successful runs in progress before the pandemic shut the lights on The Great White Way.

Right from home, performers will act, sing, and dance out scenes from their respective theater productions, which also include “The Sound Inside”, “Slave Play”, and “Jagged Little Pill”, as well as NYT writers and editors revealing their favorite moments of the year while looking to the future of Broadway once open again.

Since there’s no Tony’s, Daniel plus Lauren sees this as a constellation for theater critics to adjudicate shows in the best possible way if a Tony Awards were to still happen at some point this year.
