GENEVA (July 1, 2026)
Frederique Constant returns to one of its most anticipated collector’s series with the new 2026 Classics Runabout Automatic GMT, a limited-edition watch that brings a Manufacture GMT complication to the brand’s dolce vita-inspired Runabout collection. Available in two new 42mm versions, in choice of deep blue or teak-brown, the new models pair Italian spirit, nautical design codes, and Swiss craftsmanship in special tribute to the legendary boats preserved by the Riva Historical Society. Each version is limited to 888 pieces.

The Classics Runabout has fast become been one of Frederique Constant’s most eagerly awaited collector’s pieces, beginning in 2013, when the Geneva-based Manufacture and the Riva Historical Society first began their partnership. Every two years, the Maison unveils a limited-edition timepiece in tribute to these legendary boats, while also supporting their preservation. The collection has seen many interpretations over the years and continues to reinvent itself with each new release, in step with the Manufacture’s latest technical advances.
The 2026 edition of the Classics Runabout is especially appealing for its Manufacture character, with both limited-edition versions equipped with a Manufacture GMT module. The Classics Runabout Automatic GMT is a dual-complication collector’s piece, featuring a date display at 6 o’clock and a GMT hand tipped with a luminescent arrow.
The new models also introduce an in-house complication to the Runabout Collection, based on the FC350 base movement, combining the reliability of a tried-and-tested caliber with the beauty of a Manufacture complication. The result remains true to Frederique Constant’s founding mission: fine watchmaking made attainable.
Beyond the mechanics, the Classics Runabout Automatic GMT is defined by its nautical-inspired design. Both 2026 models share the same design language, with dials featuring a satin-finished surface and vertical stripes that recall the foredecks of the boats preserved by the Riva Historical Society. On these classic vessels, each teak plank is hand-fitted to create the perfect sundeck for enjoying the gentle waters of the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas, as well as the tranquil lakes of Italy and the surrounding region. The navy blue tones naturally evoke deep waters, while the brown variant conveys the warmth of teak wood.
Three concentric circles complete the display of the new Classics Runabout Automatic GMT. At the center is the 24-hour indication for the second time zone, or GMT. This display removes the need for a day/night indicator, enhancing the dial’s legibility while allowing the complication to blend seamlessly into the design.
The minute track alternates between applied, luminescent Arabic numerals and slender baton-style indexes, rendered in a subtly vintage font in keeping with the spirit of the Riva Historical Society. The outermost circle, flush with the case, counts seconds as they drift by on the water.
With a 38-hour power reserve, the automatic movement showcases vertical Côtes de Genève finishing on the bridges and oscillating weight through a delicately smoked sapphire caseback, where the white logo of the Riva Historical Society appears to float like a pennant in the wind. Each piece is engraved with “Limited Edition one of 888” and comes presented in a box containing a miniature replica of one of these legendary boats, placed alongside the watch.
ABOUT FREDERIQUE CONSTANT
At Frederique Constant, time is an object of passion. It is not measured by the fleeting excitement of trends. Quite the opposite; it is a long-term vision, pursued through bold objectives, driven by the dynamism of contemporary watchmaking that dares to challenge established codes. It’s a Maison that dares to take risks. It dares to invent a Swiss-made watchmaking with a high added value. It dares to imagine new watch mechanisms. It dares to offer High Complications. It dares to break down barriers to better play with the paradox of contemporary classicism.
Watchmaking at Frederique Constant follows in the footsteps of its founders’ entrepreneurial spirit. It stems from the appreciation for fine craftsmanship of the men and women who make up the Manufacture, since 1988. It is a human, vibrant and authentic company. It is bold, having already developed 35 Manufacture movements – almost one per year. Today, the Maison boasts a collection of refined Complications developed and assembled within its own Manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva. These include the Tourbillon, Perpetual Calendar, Flyback Chronograph, Worldtimer and Power Reserve Big Date, as well as the Monolithic – a major innovation, manufactured as a single piece of silicon and operating at 40 Hz.
The range also includes automatic and quartz collections distributed through approximately 3,000 points of sale in 120 countries. In 2016, the Frederique Constant Group (Frederique Constant, Alpina Watches, Ateliers de Monaco) joined the Japanese Citizen Group to further its international development and foster new synergies.
