The Pandemic Of Letting Go

Disney’s “Frozen: The Musical” announced today that it’s closing up shop on New York’s Broadway, after a storied 825 performances with 26 previews, and it’s the first Broadway show currently running that’s closing thanks to COVID19, it was an unbridled success initially in its 2 year run, but fell short even before COVID19, though it still sent shockwaves to the industry since it was a show still running, telling how bad COVID19’s impacted life, and unemployment.

Once the writing was on the wall that the Broadway League shutdown Broadway even further till Labor Day, with speculation that it could last into next year, officials in the Broadway community called on Governor Cuomo to put all hands on deck to save the entertainment and arts community, as decisions now could affect Broadway later.

One saving grace for the “Frozen” production is that it will go on tour across the country once it’s safe to go to theaters again.

There is another saving grace if it does exist with “Frozen: The Musical”, Disney can take the route it took with “Frozen II”, and on Tuesday with “Hamilton: The Musical”, put its filmed theater performance on Disney Plus.
