A Post-World Course
There are little things and dramatic turning points throughout New York City’s nearly four centuries of existence that remain in its DNA today, from the five boroughs that we know and love, to at one time the greatest transportation system in the world, New York has always been a mecca for all things that have driven the world, and as close as our very nation, but one standard of art was set after World War II, it’s been re-created by “the salting”, one of the many fabulous collections donning Hudson Yards on Friday with New York Men’s Day here at New York Fashion Week.

Once World War II ended, the United States was heading into a new direction, standards of living needed to be addressed, and city residents nationwide were dwelling to the suburbs, an easier way of living, without all the grittiness a city inherited, a group of art enthusiasts known as the EastEnders followed this Greatest Generation trend, making their great escape from New York City to the Hamptons, quickly becoming known as “The New Standard”.

“The New Standard” had their own style when settling into their new lives in the Hamptons while making an impactful mark on their art studios, notably finding inspiration through fellow artist, Betty Parsons, in creating their fine work, “the salting” takes the fashion these new found residents of the Hamptons were wearing at the time, to provide a modern take on he play of relaxed red and white stripes, and red and white onesies.

Sourcing a fine collection like this for New York Men’s Day spring/ summer 2024 to have on their NYFW floor takes a sustainable, up cycling approach, but with a strong fabric standard in mind, this is 100 percent European fibers at work.
As GEN Z has become the new buying power for better or worse, “the salting” is a pure movement collection they can truly latch on, supporting their efforts to be sustainable that involves high-quality European fabrics, making it possible for seasonless fashion by “the salting” to be put into action.
