WHERE IT STARTS BEFORE THE END

Today, Taylor Swift sat down with The New York Times Magazine about what it takes to write a song. It begins as one idea, becomes something else, before the final piece illustrates something entirely different all together. Taylor draws inspiration from all kinds of places, even from song eras of yesteryear when Taylor was first signed a record deal. But in order to be one of the best songwriters of all time, Taylor Swift made sure she protected her work, as well as show power players the ideas and process of her songs. Taylor Swift had no interest in being someone who just snuck in as a wannabe.

Now for the DPL connection, DANIEL PLUS LAUREN virtually uses the same process of writing either a New York Fashion Week, a trade show, or an art gallery piece just like Taylor Swift does. DPL begins their news items with one idea, leave it alone for a while whether long or short term, then come back and work on it more. And finally, during those moments of NYFW, art gallery, Curve NY, and Coterie, we come to a conclusion about the work we see. But mainly, DPL finds themselves in this pure moment just described when writing an art gallery piece. It happens with brands and designers too, it takes time to understand and describe the canvas or the material and idea behind the outfit. All in good time, and every time, one’s art or collection’s story is told in the best way possible.
