The National Theatre at home YouTube channel’s first stream is a hit, the famed U.K. theatre streamed “One Man Two Guvnors” starring James Corden at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, Variety reports today that over 200,000 tuned in to watch the live-stream when first released, and the number of views since going viral now officially stands at 1 million, since all theaters on U.K.’s West End, and Broadway here in the U.S. are now closed due to COVID19.

National Theatre at home also encourages viewers to donate to National Theatre, which has raised over $60,000 since going live with the YouTube Channel; there’s also further streams coming down the path with NT@Home.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is set to go live today with his own YouTube channel livestream titled “The Show Must Go On” in exact fashion, with the 2000 adaptation of “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” as the first offering.

The origins of live-streaming theater productions came from Daniel plus Lauren just as Broadway was about to shutdown due to COVID19.
