Aim High: Stage Safe
New York Mayor, Bill de Blasio, today announced in his daily press conference an aggressive plan to light up the many stages of Broadway once again as it aims for a Fall return, the next 4 weeks will establish dedicated COVID-19 vaccination sites on Broadway at sites where people are familiar with around the district for all of those working in the theater industry, mobile units will ride around on sites off-Broadway in like matter for vaccinations, pop-up testing sites set up by theaters, and crowds will be managed before and after a show.
Mayor de Blasio says the city will provide every means and manpower possible to get its theaters back to where it was before the pandemic, also asking New York State for its full cooperation in getting the theater community to continue wearing mask, practice social distance, and encourage those who can get vaccinated do so to reignite Broadway to full capacity which generates more revenue for New York City than even its sports teams, Broadway will not operate less than full capacity because a show’s financial viability will be devastated, and forced to close.
The show must go on! Broadway is coming back and New York City is ready. Join us at City Hall. https://t.co/CYUeqJMMNg
